Latest Lies

The Top 5 Latest Lies

1. LIE: "Thanks but No Thanks" - They're still saying it! John McCain hasn't gotten the memo (perhaps it was emailed?), and keeps saying that Sarah Palin opposed the famous 600 million dollar Bridge to Nowhere. Here he is on CNN 9/16 (two weeks after Palin first lied about the Bridge): "I'm proud of her record as opposing–including the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska."

2. LIE: Obama opposes ALL free trade – said during his gaffe-prone Spanish language interview, McCain claimed that "Senator Obama wants to close those markets, he is against every, literally every free trade agreement," when in fact Obama supports free trade agreements with worker protections such as the Peru Free Trade Agreement

3. LIE: McCain Never asked for Pork – not true. McCain has requested earmarks such as the William Rhenquist building at law schools, land grabs by the army and other projects in his 26 years in the Senate, while Obama's 'pork barrel spending' included projects supporting science education for children and hospitals on the South Side of Chicago.

4. LIE: Alaska produces 20% of America's Energy – Both McCain and Palin have repeated this claim as one of Palin's qualifications to be VP (Palin said it in her ABC interview, McCain during the Convention). Too bad it backfired – Alaska produces about 3.5 percent of total US energy, according to the Energy Information Administration. Not only is their claim untrue, it shows just how unprepared a McCain-Palin presidency will be to face up to global warming and the energy crisis.

5. LIE: Obama Opposes Clean Energy – McCain and Palin both put this out in recent campaign stops – Barack Obama not only supports clean energy, he supported it before John McCain, while McCain supports continued reliance on dirty oil and coal.
